  • Mercury Village Unveiled
On Friday, May 30, Mercury Payment Systems unveiled Mercury Village, the company’s new state-of-the-art headquarters in Durango. Several hundred residents of Durango attended the ribbon cutting, where Mercury CEO Matt Taylor offered initial remarks before yielding the podium to Colorado Senator Michael Bennet, followed by Governor John Hickenlooper. “There is an innovation boom happening around Colorado right now, and Mercury Payment Systems is a part of that trend that is driving our economy,” Senator Bennet said. “[This] celebration is a reflection of Durango’s history, one that has been embedded with forward-thinking visionaries. Mercury has proven to be an innovative leader in payment processing technology, helping businesses all over the world better serve their customers. We look forward to seeing that success continue here in Durango in the years to come.” The 80,000 square foot, LEED-designated facility has room for 566 employees, and features a medical clinic, fitness center, and a café. Governor Hickenlooper said: “What Mercury has done is so profound because Durango has never had a company that started (here) and has grown so fast.” Per the company’s planned acquisition by Vantiv, and on continuing to grow the company in Durango, Taylor noted: “None of this would have been possible if we’d tried to build this business anywhere else.”
